The Application Process is relatively straightforward:
 
   •    Agree to the Board Rules and Expectations;
   •    Complete and submit this application;
   •    Interview with the Board; and
   •    Be confirmed by the current Board of Directors via Resolution

You can submit the application by completing it on-line and pressing the submit button where its receipt shall be confirmed by MCHI within 24 hours.
 
MCHI Board Overview
 
Estimated Time Commitment: The Board currently meets approximately two (2) hours every other month.
 
Voluntary: This a volunteer position.
 
Meeting Location: Generally the Board meetings are held in MCHI's office conference room located at 150 Cayuga Street, Suite 7, in Salinas, although meeting can be held at MCHI owned properties located throughout Monterey County.
 
Financial Commitment: There is no commitment to contribute money or time to fundraising.
 
Director Responsibilities:
 
Demonstrate willingness and ability to contribute your time and talents;
 
 
Understand and concur with MCHI's mission, services and policies. Work with the rest of the Board to coordinate MCHI's mission and review management's performance in achieving it;
 
 
Collaborating with the Board to annually assess the changing environment and accordingly modify MCHI's strategies;
 
 
Be a person of vision and willing to work with others;
 
 
Attend all Board and Committee meetings (currently the Board meets for 2 hours on the second Wednesday of every month);
 
 
Serve on at least one committee;
 
 
Be a spokesperson and advocate for affordable housing;
 
 
Reasonably use your knowledge, skills and expertise in the service of MCHI's efforts;
 
 
Serve as a source of advice and support for MCHI's Executive Director;
 
 
Become informed of MCHI's fiscal situation and make responsible decisions on MCHI's behalf;
 
 
Approve major actions of the organization and major changes in programs and services; and
 
  Follow conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies.
 
Completing the following Application does not commit you to anything, as it represents a starting point to ascertain whether there is a mutually beneficial relationship existing between yourself and MCHI. It is but a first step, albeit a meaningful step, as your involvement with MCHI is sure to have a materially positive impact in the community.
